DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Tennessee... North Fork Obion River near Martin For the Obion River...including Martin...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...North Fork Obion River near Martin. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Widespread flooding is occurring in Rives and near Union City. Additional evacuations will be necessary. Agricultural land north of Martin is flooding and equipment and livestock may need to be moved to higher ground. Numerous secondary roads are covered by flood water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 18.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow morning and continue rising to a crest of 22.5 feet Sunday evening. Pay close attention to subsequent forecasts as multiple days of rain will impact the crest and duration of the flooding. - Flood stage is 20.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.

When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific to any geographic area.

Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole, skypunch, and cloud hole.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless, smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud, because it is thicker.

Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.
