DESCRIPTION: FFWMEG The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Benton County in Tennessee... Carroll County in Tennessee... Chester County in Tennessee... Decatur County in Tennessee... Hardeman County in Tennessee... Hardin County in Tennessee... Henderson County in Tennessee... Central Henry County in Tennessee... McNairy County in Tennessee... Eastern Madison County in Tennessee... * Until 1015 PM CDT Thursday. * At 410 PM CDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... A contrail is an artificial cloud, created by the passing of an aircraft.

Contrails form because water vapor in the exhaust of aircraft engines is suspended in the air under certain temperatures and humidity conditions. These contrails are called exhaust contrails.

Another type of contrail can form due to a temporary reduction in air pressure moving over the plane's surface, causing condensation. These are called aerodynamic contrails.

When you can see your breath on a cold day, it is also because of condensation. The reason contrails last longer than the condensation from your breath is because the water in contrails freezes into ice particles.
